What to wear?
It is important to have the right gear and clothing for the conditions that you will be riding in. No matter what the conditions, Harley-Davidson Motorclothes has clothes to suit you. Have the proper gear whether it is sunny, cloudy, balmy, muggy, rainy, soggy, windy, chilly, breezy, gusty, steamy or nippy! By suiting yourself up appropriately you will not only by more comfortable but also safer in all environments.
When it is warm and sunny it is best to wear light to midweight leather, or nylon jackets, a helmet with a shaded visor, lightweight and breathable gloves (perforated and/or fingerless), boots and abrasion-resistant jeans. When it is cool riders can don a midweight leather jacket, full-face helmet, boots, midweight full-finger or gauntlet gloves, jeans and a long-sleeve shirt. For when conditions get frosty, rug up with thermal glove liners, neck tubes, windshielder gauntlet gloves, all-conditions nylon jacket, vests, beanie and full-face helmet. Of course, it is always advisable to wear body armour as well, which can be inserted into your jacket.
Wet Weather
Wet weather can pose some additional hazards to riders, from restricted visibility for both the motorbike rider and other drivers around you, to slippery tarmac. Roads can be slippery after rain where oil has leaked onto the tarmac or where there are bitumen reparation stripes. It can also be hazardous when there are large amounts of water on the road, causing bike wheels to lose contact with the road surface.
So when riding in wet weather every rider should take precautions, even if it is dressing properly so that you concentrate on the road in front of you rather than on the water filling your boots. Harley-Davidson produces a range of wet weather gear from rain gaiter lug soles (thick rubber soles with deep indentations that improve the stability and traction of footwear) to one and two piece rain suits, and highly visible and waterproof vests.
