Types of Wallets
The standard wallet is a bi-fold, a wallet in which the notes are folded over once. It also has multiple slots, either horizontal or vertical, for credit cards and identification cards (driver’s license, healthcare card, membership cards, etc). The tri-fold wallet is one with three folds, and cards are typically stored vertically.
A breast wallet stores banknotes without folding them. Since they are too large to be stored in one’s pocket, they are designed for a men’s breast pocket in a jacket. A chain wallet is simply a wallet (usually a flip, bi-fold or tri-fold)secured to one’s belt via a chain. The use of a chain was first made popular by bikers who did not want to lose their wallet while riding their motorcycle. It became a fashion item for different trends including punk fashion in the 1980s and grunge fashion in the 1990s.
Wallets may have other features as well, such as a money clip or a coin compartment. They may also have an identification window to facilitate the display of regularly used ID.
